The way you think are affected by your anxiety.

Anxiety affects the way we think about things. When you are in real danger it is understandable to focus on the threat. When that happends you are back to the flight or fight responce. Read more about what is anxiety here.

The physical effects of anxiety

Most people have heard about the fight or flight response. This is a physical response when we face what we see as a danger or alarming circumstances. Your reaction will be on of two, flight or fight.
This is how our bodies reacts to take care of itself, get out of the danger, either fight to win, or run to get away from the danger. When this happens the body get a physical reaction and release a chemical called adrenalin, and this triggers physical changes as these anxiety attack symptoms:

- breathing faster to increase oxygen in the body,
- faster heart rate to increase blood flow to the muscles,
- more tension in muscles for fast response,
- trembling or shaking,
and others...

This reactions will make us better prepared to fight or flight. F.ex. will better blood flow to the muscles make us stronger or faster. This survival mechanism has evolved over millions of years to protect us from danger and can still be useful for us today.

Modern is not really dangerous like it was before on a physical level. What causes anxiety today, social settings, have a presentation at work or in school, running away or fight does´t make sense. We have to learn to think about a practical solution.

Also today the physical changes can be helpful, but sometimes it is mental response that is required rather than physical ones.
Suffer from anxiety makes you think in a different way.

"Sometimes when I worry I feel really awful. My worries go round and round in circles in my head and I start to worry that I won´t be able to cope. The more I worry, the more I feel - I feel anxious, on the edge and tense. Sometimes it gets so bad that I can´t sit still."

Anxiety attack symptoms is a lot of different feelings, being nervous or frightened, or felling panic or terror. Having anxiety is normal, as mentioned earlier, it is useful and help us to get out of dangerous situations. It is still smart to feel anxious walking home in dark streets, there might be danger, not from wild animals but from "wild" people.

Some anxiety is necessary and normal, even though we don´t like it at all. Anxiety helps us to avoid danger.

All of us have felt anxious,

it is a necessary part to stay alive. From early times human beings have felt fear, felt threatened or frightened and had anxiety attack symptoms. It is when you have reason to feel like this it keep you alive, when real danger threaten you. It could be an animal, a warrior who came to kill you or you could be out on the open sea when the storm came when not expected. Some of the same situations are still today, and others have appeared as new situations for a newer time. But the case is the same, in real danger we react with anxiety and it helps us stay alive. The problem is when we feel anxious without real fear, and this anxiousness and worry are taking control over our life. When anxiety don´t save our life, but instead are taking away the possibility to live a ordinary life.

When we are feeling anxious and having anxiety symptoms we can feel a various of feelings in our bodies. When you’re having one of these attacks, here are some of the anxiety attack symptoms you can have:

* Chest pain,

* Difficulty breathing,

* Elevated heart rate and blood pressure,

* Surges of adrenaline,

* Unreasoning fear,

* The feeling of impending doom,

* or the feeling that you’re dying.

* An overwhelming fear that you’re “going crazy”… that you will pass
out, or that you will lose control of your actions and do something you
don’t want to do.

Feeling anxious can make life miserable. You can end up worring too much, never be ale to rest, and AGORAPHOBIA can be a result like it is for many people.

Anxiety Symptoms

Anxiety symptoms are the result of an abnormal increase in the levels of adrenaline in the blood, which sets off a 'chain reaction' of normal, but inappropriate, bodily functions.

Anxiety has three major components that determine the kind of symptoms experienced:

Firstly, there is a psycho-physiological (physical) component which produces anxiety symptoms such as palpitations (racing heart), breathlessness, dizziness and sweating.

Secondly, there is a psychological component, characterised by anxiety symptoms such as irritability, obsessions, lack of concentration and deep feelings of fear.

Finally, there may be an interpersonal component featuring an inclination to cling to other people for reassurance.

Everyone experiences some Anxiety Attacks Symptoms throughout their lives, usually a variation on the same group of basic symptoms, including:

Anxiety Attack Symptoms

Two people touching lips

Two people touching lips
Hands on each other's hips
Nothing in else in the world but one another

The 42nd floor
On a distant shore
I wonder how we strayed so far from this

Remember when we were
Just flesh and bone
You say, "We have forgotten how cordial war could be"

So, put down your hollow sips (or tips)
And kiss your lovers lips
And learn that fate is what you make of it

(he's upset, either sips or tips - put down your wine glass, listen to me, or stop firing your empty hollow words at me - and KISS me, I want to...

Please end this
Before it ends us

I wanna stay inside
I wanna stay inside for good
I wanna stay inside
For good

I read the news today
And everything they say
Just makes me want to stay inside

And a better part of me knows
That waiting in the throes
Is all on par with reading with my eyes closed

"What Can I do?", You say
It's just another day
In the life of apes with ego trips

Put down your hollow sips
And kiss your lover's lips
And learn that fate is what we make of it

Please end this
Before it ends us

I wanna stay inside
I wanna stay inside for good
I wanna stay inside
For good

I'm gonna stay inside
I'm gonna stay inside for good
I'm gonna stay inside
For Good

I wanna stay inside
I wanna stay inside for good
I wanna stay inside
Don't want to stay inside for good

WHAT IS AGORAPHOBIA?

The term agoraphobia has been misunderstood for a long time. The word "agoraphobia" is an English adoption of the Greek words agora (αγορά) and phobos (φόβος), literally translated as "a fear of the marketplace." This translation is the reason for the common misconception that agoraphobia is a fear of open spaces, and is not clinically accurate.

Agoraphobics are not necessarily afraid of open spaces themselves, but more generally suffer panic attacks in response to the idea of being in an embarrassing or difficult situation where they are exposed to the world with no place to escape, and where it is no help to get.

The emotional element of anxiety is fear.

Anxiety attack symptoms
It is a painful emotion, like some are coming after you all the time.

The physical symptoms of anxiety are myriad; shortness of breath, rapid heart rate, shakiness, dizziness, unsteadiness, numbness and tingling, lightheadedness, feelings of choking, sweating. Most people reckon the physical symptoms to be the most distressing part of the anxiety experience. In terms of cognitive symptoms, anxiety strongly influences attention such that one's focus becomes narrowly directed toward the danger at hand. With some forms of anxiety (e.g. panic disorder, performance anxiety) attention becomes self-focused. With regard to memory retrieval, anxiety creates significant blocking of non-threat related information; you just can't think of anything but what you're anxious about! When anxious, one's automatic thoughts and mental images tend to be catastrophic; that is, there is an exaggeration of the dangerousness of the situation and a simultaneous underestimate of one's control over that danger.

So, to summarize, when the anxiety experience is activated, there is an unsettling
urgent emotion present, intense physical involvement the body is alerted in a way that is impossible to ignore. Attention becomes narrowly focused on whatever the source of the anxiety is to the extent that other information becomes inaccessible. Plus, the disasterousness of the situation is amplified and control resources are minimized in one's mind.

This quite rapid activation of symptoms has one behavioral purpose, Flight. And it is without a doubt the most important mechanism, in terms of survival, that we have in the circuitry of our brains. If anxiety didn't happen in the face of danger, we'd all perish for sure. Anxiety alerts us to danger and makes us more likely to escape from it. However, some people experience an inappropriate level of anxiety given the dangerousness of the situation and/or have enduring anxiety despite a relatively safe environment. Anxiety attack symptoms or anxiety problems can be described as false alarms that are too frequent, too profound, and or too prolonged.
What Are The Causes Of Agoraphobia?

While the basic cause is a type of anxiety disorder,it is important to note that agoraphobia is by no means a hopeless situation. Agoraphobia arises from an internal anxiety condition that has become so intense that the suffering individual fears going anywhere or doing anything where these feelings of panic have repeatedly occurred before. Agoraphobia is most associated with being unable to get to a safe location, or the feeling of being exposed and unprotected. Very often is actually not a fear of certain places but a fear of having panic attacks in certain places, where escape would be difficult and/or embarrassing. Because of its literal definition ("fear of the marketplace"), agoraphobia is often associated with a fear of crowds or a fear of open spaces but it is much more than that. http://ezinearticles.com/?How-To-Overcome--Fear-Of-Open-Spaces&id=670268 and read more about anxiety attack symptoms here...

Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Generalized Anxiety Disorder
SYMPTOMS

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is more than the normal anxiety people experience day to day. It's chronic and exaggerated worry and tension, even though nothing seems to provoke it. Having this disorder means always anticipating disaster, often worrying excessively about health, money, family, or work. Sometimes, though, the source of the worry is hard to pinpoint. Simply the thought of getting through the day provokes anxiety. Read more here..

The Role of Psychotherapy in Effective Treatment

The Role of Psychotherapy in Effective Treatment

Everyone feels anxious and under stress from time to time. Situations such as meeting tight deadlines, important social obligations or driving in heavy traffic, often bring about anxious feelings. Such mild anxiety may help make you alert and focused on facing threatening or challenging circumstances. On the other hand, anxiety disorders cause severe distress over a period of time and disrupt the lives of individuals suffering from them. The frequency and intensity of anxiety involved in these disorders is often debilitating. But fortunately, with proper and effective treatment, people suffering from anxiety disorders can lead normal lives.

Anxiety - What is an Anxiety Symptom?

Am I having a heart attack? Am I dying? Or is it anxiety? Many symptoms of anxiety mirror symptoms of other illnesses. This is because the “fight or flight” response is triggered in anxiety attacks and the body will respond as if it is threatened. The heart will race; the breathing will become shallow, sweats will breakout over the body to keep it cool in preparation for flight, these are all signs of anxiety, or an anxiety attack. Writing Provides Excellent Self-Therapy

Our thoughts can contribute significantly to our level of stress and anxiety. One solution is to get into the habit of writing down whatever is troubling you. This will help tremendously to ease your anxiety and prevent a full-blown anxiety or panic attack.

Many people swear by this method for several reasons:

1. It enables them to get off their chest whatever is troubling them.
2. Once the issues are on paper, it lessens the urgency surrounding them.
3. It provides an opportunity to ‘vent’ their feelings and air their concerns in an environment where they will not be judged.

By keeping a journal of daily thoughts and feelings, in a sense you are being your own therapist. It’s not unlike talking to a counsellor to get feedback. In fact, this is just how a therapist works. He or she will make you look inside and answer your own questions.

The key is to take the time afterwards to go back through your journal and read what you’ve entered. This will put a whole new light onto the issues that had caused you so much distress at the time you wrote those entries.
